Our Story

Acknowledgment

  • We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land that we now call home. Elders past, present and emerging

  • We acknowledge that we are continuing a journey that our elders began.

  • We acknowledge the oceans travelled by generations past and voyages made from homelands to new lands

  • We acknowledge the dreams and aspirations they held for their people and future generations and learn from their navigational successes and challenges.

  • These voyages continue today as Pasifika people navigate new homelands in an everchanging economic, political, social, religious, and legislative environment.

Why we do what we do?

In 2008, a beautiful 8.5lb baby boy was born at 3.00 am, his breathing was faint. During her 24-hour labour, his mother knew something was wrong, however her midwife did not listen to her concerns. His mother had gestational diabetes. As soon as he was born they took him away and at 3.18am, he was pronounced dead. The only explanation given was neonatal death. His parents felt powerless to do anything. They buried him and have suffered his loss in silence ever since.

Our Commitment to our Community

Our Pasifika people flourish in their new homelands and leave a lasting legacy for the generations to come.
